God: The One and only sovereign of the universe, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, perfectly holy, perfectly merciful, without beginning, without end, transcendent and yet personal! He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three distinct persons make up the one God.
Jesus Christ is God the Son. Believing in the deity of Christ is essential to salvation.
In John 8:24 Jesus said,
“I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am you shall die in your sins.”
When Jesus said, Before Abraham was I am,” the Pharisees knew exactly what He meant, and they wanted to stone Him for claiming to be God. It was a clear reference to Exodus 3:14 where God told Moses His name was”I Am, that I Am. Tell them I Am sent you” (see John 8:58,59 & 10:30-33).
Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”
Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”
The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.” John 10:25-33
Anyone can say they are God. Jesus said and did things only God could say and do!
Each of the “I am” sayings (there were 7 altogether), were accompanied by a miracle which in turn revealed attributes that belong to God alone. These 3 “I am,” sayings show Jesus to be the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Redeemer of mankind. How about when He said, “Peace be still,” and the winds and the sea obeyed Him? How about, “Destroy this temple and in three days, I will raise it?” He was speaking of raising Himself from the dead. Only God can do that!
Another excellent example of Christ’s deity is discovered by comparing Exodus 4:11 to John 9:1-7. The one miracle that Jesus performed more than any other was giving sight to the blind. In Exodus 4:11 God said this to Moses,
“And the LORD said to him, ‘Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him dumb or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?'”
It is not recorded anywhere in the Old Testament that anyone who was born blind miraculously received their sight. But it did promise that the future Messiah would come and do that very thing! Giving sight to the blind was the one miracle Jesus performed more than any other.
The magnificence of Christ is concealed and revealed from Genesis to Revelation!
In Isaiah 48:12-16, we find all three persons of the Trinity,
“Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called: I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last. Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and My right hand has stretched out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand up together. I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him, I have brought him, and his way will prosper. Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord GOD (1) and His Spirit (2) have sent Me (3).”
That last word, “Me”, is the person speaking who identifies Himself in verse 12 as the First and the Last! Compare Isaiah 44:6 to Rev. 22:13-16.
Here is another wonderful verse from Proverbs 30:4,
“Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if you know?”
Try asking a rabbi this question! He doesn’t know the answer, but you do! It’s in Matt. 3:16-17,
“When He had been baptized, Jesus (1) came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God (2) descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice (God’s voice, 3) came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son (1), in whom I am well pleased.”
And what is His Son’s Name? Matthew 1:21 tells us what it is,
“They shall call His name Jesus [YSHUA, meaning God is salvation] for He shall save His people from their sin!”
The Holy Spirit. A careful study of God’s Word reveals the Holy Spirit as the third Person of the Trinity. Look at Genesis 1:26,
“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.'”
Notice the plural pronouns! To whom is God speaking? It can’t be angels. God created angels. Created beings cannot create, in the sense of producing something from nothing. God had to be speaking to someone who also had the power to create!
We see this divine fellowship again in Genesis 3:22,
“Then the LORD God said, ‘Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil.’”
God’s perfect Hebrew grammar (Us) reveals at least two persons!
The Holy Spirit is a person. See for yourself in Isaiah 63:10,
“But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; so He turned Himself against them as an enemy.”
You cannot grieve an impersonal force or inanimate object. Only a “person” can grieve.
FATHER, SON, AND SPIRIT EACH CALLED “GOD” IN THE NEW TESTAMENT
In 2 Peter 1:17, the Father is called God,
“For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
In Titus 2:11-13, Jesus is called our great God and Savior,
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
In Revelation beginning in 1:8, Jesus is called the Almighty,
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Compare that to Rev. 22:12-13,
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Who is speaking here? Rev. 22:14-16,
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
In Acts 5:3-4, the Holy Spirit is called God,
“But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.’”
In John 16:8, we learn that the Holy Spirit’s ministry is to “convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.”
The Bible: The original autographs are God-breathed and without error. The Bible is sufficient to provide all the wisdom we need, by the power of the Holy Spirit to live the abundant life Jesus speaks of.
Salvation: Sola scriptura (“by Scripture alone”), Sola fide (“by faith alone”) Sola gratia (“by grace alone”) Solo Christo (“through Christ alone”). The Bible has zero tolerance on the doctrine of salvation. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, through Christ alone, plus—nothing! Our good works are the result of our salvation, never the cause of it.
HOW DID THE APOSTLES TURN THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN? BY DEDICATING THEMSELVES TO PRAYER AND THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD.
Folowing in the footsteps of the Apostles, we are praying because it all depends on God and preaching and teaching the whole counsel of God’s Word!
According to the best research, the Bible is the number-one selling book every year, and one of the least read. Admittedly, it’s a big book. Initially, it is for most, difficult to understand.
Research also shows, more than 60% of people who come to Christ, worldwide, do so through reading Christian literature.
Remember the Ethiopian in Acts 8:30-31?
“So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ And he said, ‘How can I, unless someone guides me?’”
Our new book, God the Final Frontier, is just that—a guide to help people understand the message of the Bible. The book is filled with Scripture, and yet it’s easy-to-read (and understand). It’s only 80 pages, and it contains 40 spectacular high-resolution photographs on glossy paper. Most people love pictures; which adds significantly to the readability. Young people today respond well to visuals. In terms of content, this book employs God’s three main arguments for His existence from Scripture:
The correlation to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is unmistakable. And since you cannot improve on God’s arguments, that is why we are experiencing such a phenomenal response to this book.
Our goal is to distribute this book in schools, college campuses, churches and prisons all across the country and around the world!
We went to NIU with 14 volunteers. We distributed 3,000 copies of God the Final Frontier in 6 hours!
Yes, you can make a huge difference. Can you imagine the joy of being a part of something like this and the rewards in time and eternity? If you would like to read the book and help us distribute this resource, please contact us immediately. Thank you.
One of the greatest joys of ministry has been the writing and distribution of books and tracts that help people understand why we believe what we believe and point them to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Our resources can go anywhere in the world for pennies. The Gospel tracts especially can go places where Jesus may not be welcome. We have received reports of people getting help, encouragement, and salvation from around the world by God using Gospel tracts!
Many people have said our new Gospel tract is absolutely the best they have ever seen! See for yourself. Here is the link…
Training others in evangelism and how to answer the cults is also very rewarding
What did Jesus do when the false teachers tried to trap Him? He did not argue. All He had to do was ask the right question and it shut their mouths every time. We train people how to do the same thing. By God’s grace, we have seen entire families come out of the cults and into salvation in Christ through this training.
I get excited about teaching evangelism to any congregation whether its 10 or 10,000 anywhere in the world. The response we receive from this teaching is very rewarding. There is no greater joy than to see someone come to know Christ personally or to see a Christian learn how to present the Gospel the way God wrote it.
It all began for me when a deep personal crisis created in me the realization that if God was real I needed His help. I began reading the Bible in earnest. After reading for a number of months (just by opening anywhere and beginning to read) I wasn’t getting anything out of it. So I decided to read it from cover to cover.
Beginning with Genesis 1:1 by the time I finished Revelation 22:21 I was a changed man. I have been told time and again that mine is of the most incredible testimonies people have ever heard. Well, it’s not really “My testimony”, it’s God’s testimony. It’s the testimony of God’s wisdom, God’s love, and God’s power to redeem broken (sinful) lives!
God’s Word began to open up for me when I read Deuteronomy 4:29,
“But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. “
It was as if the words jumped off the page into my eyeballs, through my nervous system, up to my brain and down into my heart. God had spoken! To me, essentially He was saying,
“I am not an obscure power or an impersonal force, I am a Person and you can know Me!”
The Lord revealed the same principle in Proverbs 2:1-5,
“My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God.”
I saw it again in Matthew 7:7-8,
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
I saw the same thing again in James 4:8,
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
And finally in Revelation 3:20. That is where God turned the table around completely and now He was pursuing me!
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
And finally, when God opened my eyes to the deity of Christ (John 10:30), He blessed me to know who Jesus is. Life has never been the same.
Then, one night (I had been seeking God for a year and a half), I was on my knees with my face in my hands crying out to God (literally). I was praying hard and asking God,
“If I’m really on the right track by praying and reading this book (the Bible) please show me!”
That night I experienced Romans 8:16. His Spirit bore witness with my spirit that I was (and am) a child of God. At that moment, He washed away all the pain, all the shame, and all the doubt. I was born all over again. The identity crisis was settled — forever!
Now I know for a fact who I am, where I came from, why I’m here, and where I’m going. Some people may call me a “Jesus freak” and some people may call me a “religious fanatic” but God calls me son (John 1:12)!
One thing He left me with was a burning passionate desire to see as many other people get saved as possible. At that point I knew enough about the Bible to believe it myself, but I didn’t know enough about it to cause anyone else to believe it and I wanted that knowledge more than anything else in this world.
Ministry began for me in 1987 when I met a man who asked me if I wanted to share my testimony at the Cook County Jail in Chicago. He took me right inside one of the cell blocks. I played a song on my guitar, shared my testimony (it’s really God’s testimony) and I have been preaching the Gospel ever since!
It was 1994 when a mega-church I was attending developed an interest in our ministry at the jail. They were so encouraged by what they saw they asked me to come on staff and develop a full-time ministry of evangelism!
In 1997 Voice in the Wilderness Ministries was incorporated as a 501(c)(3). We have been on an incredible journey ever since. The Lord has opened doors for us to speak at:
Our best days for evangelism are still ahead of us. We just produced our first video. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9uGa7wMBH4
The internet is an open door for the ministry of the Word to the world. Our hope and prayer is to produce many more videos with great content like many say this one has.
Grace and peace to you from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Praise the LORD!
